Chateau de Chambord

Chambord was the hunting lodge to Francois I. It is almost 512 feet long and almost 184 feet tall. It has 77 staircases, 282 fireplaces, and 426 rooms. It was very impressive and very gorgeous. The crazy thing is the Francois only spent 72 days at Chambord during his reign of 32 years and he never even say his project completed. So this one didn't have a packet quit like the other one so it will mainly be pictures with description occasionally.

This is a Road leading up to Chambord, we didnt take this one though. The estate covers almost 13,443 acres which is the same area as Inner Paris. It is surrounded with a wall that is almost 105,000 feet long with six gates. It is the largest enclosed forest park in Europe and it is a national game reserve containing many types of animals that live completly wild.

Before we went into Chambord we did a little skit acting out the events that led to Chambord being built and the life of Francis I. Here are some of our group members in the skit. The first one is of Eric our amazing bus driver.

This is Kay being a gay king.

One of the many fireplaces

This is the staircase in Chambord. The funny thing is that if two people go up either side at the same time they will never meet. It was pretty amazing to see this. The last picture is a view from between the staircases looking up.

The next pictures are the different rooms that I went to. For the most part they are in the order of how I went. Sorry some of the pictures are blurry I was trying to go fast because we had like an hour and a half. Also if you turn the flash off on our camera it makes the pictures come out blurry sometimes. You get the drift of the pictures though.

Here is a picture of a bathroom and a little bedroom that was in a closet in one of the other rooms. The last picture is a cabnit in Francis I's bedroom.

Here are some pictures of some children's toys, a child's study room, and some old keys.

So one of the rooms we went it was a hunting room. These are pictures from that room.

They had this one room that was a memorial to the soldiers. It was pretty cool.

These pictures are of a hallway on the way to the carriage room, the carriages, and some cool stone carvings that were in a room by the carraiges.

And last but not least, the roof of Chambord and the view from the top.
