Ford Island

After we were finished touring the Bowfin, we headed to the bus stop. We boarded a bus to head on over to Ford Island to see the U.S.S Missouri and go to the air museum. Since Ford Island is an operating base you are not allowed to take pictures until you get across the bridge and to the Missouri so no picutres from that. We went to the Missouri first. Right in front of the entrance to the Missouri is the memorial for the U.S.S Oklahoma.

Wow look how big that is!

During our tour a sub went by.

Then some plane flew by.

This is the spot where formal surrender was signed.

The signed Surrender.

They had to store their stuff under the bed.

Lounge area.

Commanders Room.

Missouri with Arizona in background.

After we were done touring the Missouri we took the bus over to the Pacific Aviation Museum. It was cool but small and not what we expected. Any one recognize this tower? It has been in some big movies.

We had Richard stand by these torpedoes so you could try and get an idea of how huge they are. No wonder they did so much damage.

This was a chess set they had for sale in the gift shop. Notice how expensive it is?

We really enjoyed being able to visit all the sites at Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor was one of my favorite things about Hawaii. I missed the museum though! Definitely time for a trip back.
