Birth Story

So I had a Dr's appointment on Thursday the 8th. I was dialated to a 3 so my Dr decided to strip my membranes. By 6:30 that night I was starting to have contractions about every 5 min. They weren't painful but after 3 hours of this I decided I better at least call labor and delivary and see what they suggested to do. They said to wait until they were between 2 and 5 min apart and painful enough that I couldn't walk through them. All through the night I had contractions and they were a little more painful. Friday morning I was still having contractions and they were starting to be between 2-5 min and they were more painful but not unbearable. After an hour or so of this I called my Dr's office to see if they wanted me to come to the office to get checked or go to labor and delivary. They told me to go to labor and delivary. I called Richard and work and had him come home so we could go. We got to the hospital but when they checked me I was still only a 3 but I had thinned more. They had me stay for a while to see if I would progress. After about an hour and walking I was completly thinned but still only a 3 so they sent me home. This is what I had really not wanted so I was a little disapointed. We came home and ate and then I tried to get a few things done. Well my contractions started to get really painful later in the evening. By 7 or so they were so bad that I couldn't do anything during them and they would even bring me to tears at times. I was afraid of going to the hospital and getting sent home again so I was hesatant to go but Richard finally made me. We got up to the hospital and the nurse was really nice and said since they weren't to busy they would probably just keep me especially since I was in so much pain. They gave me a gown to change into and while I was in the bathroom my water broke (luckly on the toilet). After I changed they checked my and I was at a 4. So they hooked me up and got my IV in. After this I felt like I need to go to the bathroom again. They let me get up and go and thent the nurse wanted to check me again because I was feeling more pressure, I was at a 7 already. Because it only took about 15 min to go from a 4 to a 7 I was really worried I wasn't going to be able to get an epidural. Well the anethesiologist got there in time and they decided they wanted to do both an inter-thecal and an epidural because the inter-thecal kicks in right away but only last about an hour to an hour in a half and the epidural last longer. Well he couldn't get the catheter in for the epidural so they just did the inter-thecal and said they could do more later if needed. We it wasn't long after that that I was at a 10 and ready to push. I was doing really good at first but after a while and just as baby was crowning my medication wore off. Well after 45 min to an hour I was just to tired and in to much pain so they used the vaccum to help get the baby out. Abigail Lorrine was born at 1105 pm March 9th. Well it turns out my pelvic wall is really narrow, so much in fact I tore so bad it took almost as long to sew me up as it did to have the baby. The Dr said it was a good thing Abigail wasn't any bigger than she was. So here are the pictures of our sweet baby.
